Forgive this basic question, i am new to the forum and Moggies.
I am about to scrap a 1994 Rover Metro 4 Door 1.4 Diesel (Standard Peudeot engine, replaced by the 1.5 in 1995/6). The interior is immaculate. The body and suspension arms are rotten.
Are any of the bits eg heater, seats etc useful for Moggies ?
Or even better, just pull the cover of the Metro seats and re-upholster the minor seat with it. Very easy to do if you are ok with a sewing machine. Just a thought
how much of a beast is the diesel engine?
If it's not exeptionally heavy / thirsty / knackered , I'm sure someone would use it as a donor...

where to break down next?

I'd wondered about that engine in a Morris, though I still favour the Isuzu 1.5 that Corsas use having had two Corsas with them - I seem to remember that the 1.4 Peugeot was capable of about 60 to the gallon in the Metro, which can't be bad!

My current 1275 Minor managed 33 mpg on my 120 mile round trip of one day at work... It's one of the worst I've had for fuel and doesn't go well either.
I'd be skint if I used it every day, and as it's a SII with a small tank it wouldn't manage 1.5 trips I'd have to refuel every day!
60mpg diesel Minor.... now that sound a dream

I thrashed by somewhat modified 1098 Traveller with 3.7 final drive to Scone and back a couple of weeks ago - and had just under 30 mpg for my reward. My TR7 does FAR better than that!
