Hello everyone,
I'm having a bit of trouble aligning the passenger door on my saloon. I've removed and dismantled everthing today and noticed both door hinges have what seems to be a spacer shim spot welded to one face. I assume its a factory thing and used so there are "thick" hinges and "thin" hinges to suit the varying finished sizes of the door and apperture on the production line?
As I could do with a little extra clearance, is it detrimental to drill out the weld and remove the shim? It doesnt look as though the hinge will bind on the bodywork if its removed. Does anyone have any experience they could pass on please?
Many thanks, Colin.

Re: door hinges and shims
Although shims are available, I am not aware of factory fitted ones. Certainly remove them if you think the clearance between the door and wing will be ok. Unusual to be welded on, make sure the hinge faces are cleaned off if you do remove them.
