Squealing

Post by rsawatson »

My car has developed a squeal that comes from the engine area - it echoes in the engine bay. The squealing noise is fairly quiet but increases in pitch/volume as the revs are increased - depressing the clutch bears no effect. I've also tried removing the fan belt in order to eliminate the dynamo and water pump etc - but the noise still continues in the same annoying manner.

Any ideas spring to mind?
Thanks.
