Re: are these really what they are ment to be??
One glance at the ebay pic shows they are Minor brakes. Send them back for a refund. Although - they did say they were 'Morris' brakes - so they may refuse to refund...... Caveat emptor

The ad says"Morris/Wolsey 9inch Front Brakes"
As they aren't 9 inch you should get a refund.

"Once you break something you will see how it was put together"
Re: are these really what they are ment to be??
Oh yes - it does indeed say ' 9 " ' further down - I only looked at the picture - so indeed you may have a good claim - however as you showed yourself - it is possible to measure the drums at 9"...... The seller has 100% good feedback - so you should stand fair chance.

Re: are these really what they are ment to be??
well things have taken a turn for the worse. the bloke has said that because i have cut the brake pipe in order to get off the cylinder to ascertain it was not a 9inch brake, he isnt going to refund as ebay has advised its hes discretion.
im sorry, but the mere fact that these where misold to me in the first place and that i was ripped off very badly for something that would of cost no more than a tenner from an autojumble, seems to have escaped him. safe to say i am extremely annoyed at this in every way shape of form

File a 'not as described' complaint to eBay and don't be put off by their bureaucracy - they should get it sorted for you.
Also give a strong negative feedback to the seller, if he does not give a complete refund. He has 100%, so this might help him to focus??
Good advice to pay by PayPal, does give a bit more protection.

thankfully after several emails of a varying heated nature, the bloke is going to refund me £55 on reciept and inspection of the brakes. However, he may be picky but we will see i suppose

Re: are these really what they are ment to be??
Put another pipe on - and refit the cylinders. You shouldn't have cut the screws - why did you do that ? Only fair you send them back EXACTLY as they came to you. In fairness - with hubs - they would be worth rather more than £10 at an autojumble. In fact - by the time you pay postage back to him (£ 15 ??) - and he then has the parts AND your money - and can run you around any way he likes - I would be tempted to just write the deal off to experience. Fix up the brakes into good condition - and sell them to someone who needs to upgrade from the early 7" drum brakes. With the hubs - and in working order - they should fetch £50 or so. But do complain to ebay - and leave him MASSIVE negative feedback. And learn the lesson ! Ask for advice on here beforehand - that's what we are here for!

Re: are these really what they are ment to be??
slightly in two camps about this,
i am very annoyed that i was initally taken for a ride and that i missed out on a nice set of wolseley brakes and thus to get my money back asap (or as much of it as possible) yet i am also tempted to keep them, as the shoes are quite good, the drums would be good as a spare and the hubs are also good as spares.
so it is now amounting to a dilema. do i maintain the moral high ground or cave in, accept that i was robbed and use them as spares for me or flog them to anyone who would like them
