Section HH of the Workshop manual! Most just swap the complete final drive assembly - plenty available second hand if you don't mind the 'common' ratios of 4.55 and 4.22. The less common 3.9 and the (now) rare 3.7!

iv had a 3.7 ratio diff for 2 years and no one wants it.its been to 2 auto jumbles,and classic car mags..i got it from a austin a35 van.1 owner from new covering 59k miles..i now use it as a door stoper..

Certainly wasn't a 'standard fit' in an A35 van! Are you SURE it's 3.7 ?? Post up the ratio numbers on the gears.

hi its a mowog ata 7241-11.41 and on the ally cast its t-11/41.i bought the a35 van its was like a bullet on the flat.but when it came to hills..well it was slow for a 1098cc so i had a 4.22 fitted so its slowish now but i came get up hills but i have all the mots..and the van as 59k on the clock and the diff has no rattles whines or odd noises or leaks..i hope it helps you

the speedo was also out i used a sat-nav for the speedo..now with the 4.22 its fine no more sat-nav..but the car was doing nearly 70 mph and wanted more on the hills it was like a slug....i had the engine rebuilt tho..cool..as the engine that was 848cc was taken out in the 70s...
