Track Rod Ends

Post by MColes »

Fitted a pair of new track rod ends about 2 months ago, 3 max. Already one is split and the other is well on its way.

Anyone else had the same problem?

Also does anyone know where you can get the original type with the grease nipple rather than the newer type?

I mean I personally prefer the one's with the grease nipple. I'm just peeved off that these ones have gone already after such a short amount of time :(

I assume just the rubber boots that have split.......... they are available from BM.

Yes the rubber boots. The new ones were from BM.

So you can just replace the rubber boots?

Indeed yes. Do explain to BM - they may send you new boots FOC. Worth a try!

Wish I had known that a couple of months back. I could have replaced just the boots and kept the original TRE's with the grease nipple.

Alas, not that simple. The work was done in a mate's garage and I think he has had a 'tidy up' since then. So they are probably now landfill

Dear oh dear - NEVER throw anything away! At very least they would have yielded two perfectly good grease nipples even if the ball joints had been ruined.........
