Ouch! They may not even sell you one piston's worth of rings - you may have to buy a complete set. Unless someone has some spare rings lying around from a similar misadventure ? Are the bores standard - or oversize ?

The pistons are oversize .020 and they came pre assembled to the piston so who knows how it broke.

Rings from a 998 Mini engine may fit - also at the +20 bore. So may be worth asking on 'Minifinity' and 'Theminiforum' - and also possibly at suppliers like Minispares and Minisport.

Thanks I will checkout those sites.
I think it broke cus we hadnt quite got it lined up, we did what the haynes manual says if you dont have a compressor which is a big jubilee clip. I know with hind site we should have got a ring compressor, I guess you learn the hard way (expensive way!)

Jub clip is v bad idea - it doesn't give an even squeeze. I just use my fingers - and 'feel' each ring into place. You were 'lucky' to only break the one ring.
