Brass floor screws.

Post by RobThomas »

Any ideas how to describe them, technically? The ones holding the gearbox cover in place. Oval or buttonhead/countersunk?

Also, how many of each length are normally required for each car? Mine is (still) away and I'm working through booxes of bits in order to get things painted, polished and bagged before the shell comes back.

Lots of them are required, is that accurate enough? I think there is about 32 in total, but there are two different lengths, I'm sure four of them are about 1/4" longer than the rest. You also need washers... her is an ESM link to the correct ones.

You win need something to seal between the two mating surfaces, I used some U shaped rubber pushed over the edge of the gearbox cover. If you want originality you'll need something flat like this:

I think there are 23 including 4 long ones which hold the gearbox cross member.
I have replaced them with bolts on my MM which can be removed with a socket

By the look of the screws in the links above, these are what are termed as 'oval' headed machine screws http://media-2.web.britannica.com/eb-me ... 6BF37A.gif
