welded in onto the inner wheelarch and the bare metal and welds quickly paintedover to avoid rusting, its a very wet day today, sadly, the Shoreham Battle of Britain airshow seems to be very quiet, normally hear Vintage planes fly overhead at this time of year.
Anyone like to comment on my steering ball joints, I think they're inserted upside down, I may have to break the taper and re assemble them correctly.[frame][/frame]

Thanks Katy, you don't happen to have a nice shot of you seat belt anchor points on your floor by any chance, Id better start thinking about organising something along those lines soon, are seatbelts compulsory in Canada?

the track od ends look to high up, they should come down to the steering arm, have you got the steering arms on the right side, looks like the taper in the arm is the wrong way round

Looks ok to me too, and obviously the track rod end is just loosely sitting in the steering arm. Looks like you haven't got the lower bump stop in place though - the damper arm should be sitting on it when the car is off the ground and therefore raising the whole king pin by about an inch.

might look wrong because the cars is on axle stands and there's no weight on the front suspension, so they're hanging down, and there's no oil in the front dampers yet, if the steering arms are meant to angle away from the car I have them in wrong, cos mine angle in toward the car.[frame][/frame]

Dryad, take your point about the lack of lower bump stops, I'll fit them up soon, the only reason I was wondering about the orientation of the track rod ends is I noticed them facing upward in the diagram on page 151 of the Haynes workshop manual.
What are the empty eyes for in my picture below the damper arms?

The eyes are for the rubber brake hose, where it attaches to the brake line from the t-junction at the front of the body. The hose goes in from the top of the eye, and the line comes out from a hole in the tie plate and underneath the inner wheel arch and connects to the hose.

I think the diagram on page 151 is just a visual description of the component parts. If you look on page 10, diagram 6 you can see them connected how you've done yours, and you can see the brake hose in the eye on the inner wheel arch as well.

David, I don’t have any pic’s of seat belts because our car never came with them originally. Seat belts are required here on most vehicles but are exempt on “motor vehicles that were not designed or equipped with seat belt assemblies by their manufacturers”.
Fig. K.10 on page K.9 of the BMC manual shows the track rod ends and also the steering arms pointing inwards, same as yours.

in between sanding, filling and drying Ivedug out two components for disassembly, cleaning and repainting, here the oil pump and filter can get a fresh coat.[frame][/frame]

the fuel pump was next, the SU type L, the screws holding the two halfs together were hard to get out, one sheared off leaving me an inch of screw to drill out, now then, make or buy the gasket? never tried making one before, they're not that expensive to buy.[frame][/frame]

was the pump working or did you test it before pulling it apart, the diaphram is not the easiest to get right when putting back and buy a gasket

in between coats of primer and rub downs, I'm also trying to re fit the new front wing, its a pattern type if you remember, Ive got a nice narrow wing to door gap now, but its like sharing your duvet with a horse (never done that?) there's always a bit too short somewhere else.[frame][/frame]
