Post by 1mustard »

It's just a clamp arm - and a bolt. But may not fit a 155 tyre!

You may get an idea from the drawing here: http://www.morrisminor.org.uk/catalogue/itw07.htm

The wheel slides under the wooden floor and sits in top of the petrol tank, held in place by the clamp that is secured by a bolt that goes into the angled thread in the lip of the floor (if that makes sense).

There are two sizes of clamp, one for 5 gall tank and one for 6 1/2 gall tank. They will fit a 155 sect. tyre.
Bolt head size 3/8 Whit, same as the wheel nuts.

The idea being of course - that you use the wheelbrace to release the spare wheel!

And the clamp itself doubles as a hub cap remover.

I tried the hub cap removal trick on my My Series MM and it did not work. Maybe it does not like the wheel studs

thanks, i had sussed that clamp out, what it is is i have a basket type assembly that looks like its for the spare wheel area, perhaps its for something else, but it appears made to measure. no worries i will get to the bottom of it, cosidering i have literally rebuilt the whole car you would think i would be able to remember where it come from!
