wolseley brakes

having decided to get a set of wolseley brakes for primrose, i have found a set of front ones for a reasonable price, but should i hold off putting these on until i have a rear set or does it not really matter?

Could be wrong but i thought you swapped the front 8" MM drums with the rear and put the 9" Wolseley's on the front.

emm, i thought that the drums where 7" all round

No need to upgrade the rear brakes, 9 in fronts should be quite adequate.
918, 803 & 948 = 7 in all round. 1098 = 8 in front, 7 in rear

thank god for that, so when i get my brakes on friday, ill bolt them straight on and enjoy the benefit of proper braking

Your new W brakes will be excellent - my car has been out and about today up and down hills all over Central Scotland - and my W brakes have been absolutely EXCELLENT. Bolt them straight on - no servo needed, no re-arrangement of the brake piping, no dubious modifications to the Master Cylinder and no remote reservoir required. And you can continue to use Minor wheels. Best value for money braking improvement you can make - by a mile ! ! You won't be disappointed with the result.

I see the current price for the correct Wolseley front brake cylinders are now £62 each

Pheeeeewwwwwwww Fortunately - I have a good supply of used ones - and new seals are readily available. And of course - the current set on my car are modified to use Minor cylinders which work v well too.

is it difficult to modify them to take morris cylinders? they would be alot more economical than standard wolseley brakes

It's not difficult - but does require a little bit of welding to get it right. But if the W cylinders are ok - or just needing new seals - then stick with the originals.

If I remember correctly, to fit Minor wheel cylinders you need to increase the length of the slot in the back plate and move the small bolt hole slightly. You will also need new linking pipes

Excellent! You would think they would upgrade to the wider Riley brakes - or even (dare I say) discs!
