I have a Unipart push button radio that I am thinking of positioning under the parcel shelf of Mungo. I just need some advice on the connections as I am not very electrically minded when it comes to old cars. On the back of the radio is the obvious aerial connection, and then there is a black wire and a white wire that are joined together lengthways with the ends bared, where do they go ? and then there is a brown wire which I think connects to the fuse box. Having said all that would it be right that the radio earths itself through it's own bodywork or would it earth through the aerial.I know I probably won't hear it when I'm driving along but it would be nice to have a little ambience music while picnicing on a lazy sunny sunday afternoon with er indoors.

The two wires joined together are the speaker wires. The earth is through the chassis of the radio - BUT - do you know if it is a positive or neg earth radio ?

Your listening choice will be limited to medium and long wave and poor reception on those. Listen to the engine instead and worry about every imagined misfire.
thanks for the replies, the radio is neg' earth so I think i'll try it anyway and see what it sounds like, failing that I think i'll take a portable radio with me.

if you have the speakers I would go ahead and fit it,the portable radio option is frankly distracting,you get poor reception and end up missing parts of your programme,I use mine as background music when working on my minor,on the road its more trouble than its worth
