I just bought a morris minor 1000 (1961 2 door) i just wanted to know if anyone has any hints on how to make the steering that bit lighter i been looking on some other post on here and people say you can fit electir power steering if it possible what model would i be looking for to fit please?
also can anyone help in locating a supplyer who would be able to help me replace all door and window seals and cam shaft oil seals to
The steering should be light enough, if it is not then check out your steering rack and swivel pins. If they are dry then the steering will be stiff before collapsing.
Many owners make their steering heavier by fitting smaller steering wheels
Try putting 30 psi in the tyres, that will help.
The PSI quoted in the manual is for a different type of tyre which I doubt you have.
There is a tendency to abuse the tyres on cars with power steering, it is much better to have the car moving, even a little, when turning the wheel.
If you try turning the wheel from one lock to the other, with the car not moving, you are using the steering, power or not, to defeat the tyres main role in life which is to grip the road.
