Post by moggiefan »

I have decided to remove all of our posts in this thread as it's all got a bit out of hand.

Many thanks to the forum members who have taken time to offer us advice.

I'd be obliged if you would remove any text or pictures you've quoted from me.

As the rust would initially be inside and therefore not visible for inspection i suppose they could claim that 'as far as they could ascertain' the chassis was alright but , if you search the site for the quotes concerning the business you refer to, i think you'll find that on recommendation it doesn't have as good a reputation as you may think.

As a suggestion have you sat with the phone and yellow pages and called local bodyshops?I found that a local bodyshop to me had a morris enthusiast as an employee and got a quote for chassis leg replacement of £250 plus parts, which i think is quite a good quote for the job.You may find the same....

Many thanks for the advice on an alternative mech but that bloke's in Wakefield and we're in Bath.
Something is not right there as Russell is based on the edge of Bristol not Wakefield.
You can contact him through the board as he does occasionally post

I'm afraid you may have picked me up wrong - no offence was intended. Russell is a well respected guy and I feel sure you have been given good advice by him and more importantly he will do a good job for you.
My post was to highlight the fact that the last time a respected member of our on line community mentioned your previous repairer on this forum they were banned after carrying out work for someone in the same situation as your goodselves.
I hope it all goes well with your repairs.

Glad you are now on the right track with Russell.
Some of the so called respectable firms are still getting away with crazy workmanship despite many bad reports.
Maybe this and others experiences of these firms will spur people to do a little researching before commiting their hard earnt cash to them.
