Indicators

Post by Chris Edgar »

Very puzzled...

the other day the light on the indicator switch on the steering column failed to flash.
I checked and the flashers themselves still worked, so I assumed the bulb had failed & ordered another one.
It hasn't arrived yet, but...
Today the switch light comes on ALL the time the ignition is on.
Not just when I operate the flashers.
It is on constantly & not flashing.

The flashers still working OK.

Anyone any bright ideas , please?

regards

Chris

Have you got a blocked oil filter warning light? Have you got a wire going to a connector on top of the oil filter?
If you have then disconnect it from the filter and connect it to the flasher instead of the light green wire. If everything is working correctly then the orange light in the speedo on the left should flash. If it has the same problem as the green warning light and all your indicators are working then it is the flasher

We had that same problem with the traveller last week, it was caused by a faulty flasher unit...

Don't have an oil filter warning light Mike, so can't do the test that you suggest.

Read your post Sydney so a local factor is getting me one for tomorrow at a cost of just over £3, so I'll substitute & hopefully that'll be it sorted.

We recently had the same fault and so fitted a new flasher unit - but the new unit was faulty and gave up the ghost after a couple of attempts! So we had to find another unit and have advised the parts supplier of their faulty part.

Don't buy the dodgy Chinease made "Intermotor" items - Seek out NOS or even used second hand original Lucas items at autojumbles or ebay etc....
