I was merely giving information. I don't know anything about the 'Guild', but I doubt whether moderators ban people for voicing an opinion.

Well it is a little bit, how can I put, pedantic. With 400 odd members though there isn't going to be that much activity as ours. Still, plenty of useful information to be had.
By the way, going to look at the Auntie on Sunday....we'll see!

Gone and done it now ! Winston's big sister, A 1962 100. Didn't go for the 95 we originally looked at. To be honest the car was okay but it was the Del Boy/Arthur Daley hybrid owner that put us off, then saw this one and that as they say, was that ! Previous owner had her for 20 years and has done a lot of work, including a 5-year rebuild all documented and supported by photographs. We felt more comfortable buying from this chap, genuine sadness at having to sell was plainly evident to see. Nevertheless she's ours now and will be well looked after.[frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]

Nice "Del Boy/Arthur Daley hybrid owners" should be given a very wide berth, buying any second hand car is as much about evaluating the owner and the stories they tell you, as the car itself.

It isn't foolproof  but "I don't trust this smooth talking person" is a major alarm bell.

I went to look at a more modern car at a dealers in Whitsable not very long ago.
There was one chap, well spoken and dressed who answered my questions with fairly dismissive answers, also in the office was a biggish bloke with a face red from drinking.

The scenario if I was to buy are car from them was all too clear :o I exited stage left and will never return under any circumstances.
