Right, finally I'm going to get around to uploading some pictures of my project. I'm really glad I took loads because when progress appears slow there's nothing better than looking how far she's come. I'm lucky that I work in a school and so get school holidays off. The bulk of what's done to date was done over Easter and a little bit in half term. The target is to finish her by the end of the summer holiday.

The first pictures of her are on my phone memory card and the phone's at the doctor so they'll have to come along later.

This is the state that the paint work was in all over the car:



The sills after we took the sill covers off. The holes aren't very visible but they were definitely there!



Lovely rust holes!

Everything stripped out and the rubbing down started: It took ages with the Da sander and then I was told by the OH that we ought to shot blast more of it so a lot of my sanding was kind of a waste of time!



Some holes that appeared after shotblasting, on the oh so easy to repair rear wheel arch flange:

After shot blasting: (we decided that we didn't have enough time that day to do the lot and the rest of it wasn't as bad so we'd just leave it. Big mistake as I later had to strip all the paint off the roof)

The repair on the rear wheel arch: It took a lot of filling and rubbing to make it the right shape again.





After all the filling and rubbing down she finally got a coat of etch primer then filler primer. Doesn't she look lovely!





...Until the guide paint goes on for the next lot of rubbing down.



I haven't got any pictures of where she is now but the filler primer has been rubbed down and filler applied to the lows that we discovered. So the next stage is finish rubbing down the filler, that should keep me entertained on Sunday!

And the last picture for today is the colour I've chosen. I'm going for the darker one.

Time for an update on how Rosie is doing. School holidays started so work started on her again. The first lot of primer was rubbed down and filler applied to the low points before she was ready for the next coat of filler primer:




Then she got her next coat including a thick coat of black in her wheel arches, after which she looked great. Until she was coated in black for her guide coat.





And the rubbing down started again. Two days, many many sanding pads and all my finger tips later, she's rubbed down ready for the first coat of top coat to go on her main body, apart from 4 little spots that need filling again. It's very exciting! Tomorrow's job is the filling, sanding the rear wings and the door. At some point we have to start the repairs on the other door and finish the sill and floor repairs but that'll be after the main body is done me thinks!

Restoration work looks great! Well done, you have cut all the rust out and the car in primer looks really good.

I'm not so sure about the colour though, is the car for your wife?

One word of advice- make sure you check all the panels- wings, doors, front panel, bonnet etc for fit before painting them. better to "adjust things" for fit when they are still in primer than after they have been painted!

Thanks for clearing that up, not sure how Chris would feel about being my wife since he refuses at present to even be my husband !!

ANyway, AMAZING news, Rosie's now pink and I have plenty pics to update the progress since I last logged in but Chris is fed up of doing my stuff all day (ie spraying Rosie) so we're off out with his mate. I did have time to order headlining and a new carpet set whilst he was in the shower!
