A beautifully smooth and quiet 1098 gearbox has suddenly started to make a gentle grating noise in 2nd. It happens only in 2nd, and can best be described as a ticking sound, getting faster with engine/road speed, as if perhaps a couple of gears are knocking when they should be properly separated.
Any ideas/suggestions please? I wondered whether it might be a loose selector fork? Is it likely to be something that can be fixed through the side cover with the box still in the car, or is it going to have to come out?
Thanks for any advice.

Re: Gearbox Noise
Just check for oil level - but otherwise unlikely to be anything you can 'fix' without taking it all to pieces.
