OK, here is a run down of activities over the last 3 days.
Broke down 200yards from home, pushed car into the drive.
Checked the usual suspects.
Good spark
Carb slightly dirty, thoroughly cleaned
Fuel pump ticking merrily, no fuel into carb. Serviced fuel pump. Brief squirt of fuel into carb then nought.
Cleaned fuel pump again, this time no fuel at all.
Removed tank and cleaned out thoroughly.
Blew out fuel lines with compressed air.
Reassembled all, brief squirt of fuel and then nothing.
Cleaned pump and carb again.
Nil.
Replaced fuel pump with new. Zero.
I am just about to remove the tank and blow the lines again.
After that I will be banging my head on the garage floor until I achieve unconciousness.
Any tips (on the fuel problem, not the head banging).
No fuel reaching carby.

Re: No fuel reaching carby.
ok, cleaned out entire fuel system again, even filled the float bowl with fuel before attempting a start. Ran beautifully for 3-4 minutes then stopped. restarts ok then stops almost immediately. piddling little flow into carby. can't find any leaks anywhere that might be letting fuel out or air in. Short of going to a third fuel pump I don't know what to do. Am I missing the signs of a bigger problem somewhere?

Re: No fuel reaching carby.
Did you clean the filter in the fuel pump?
Have you tried dropping a fuel line into a can of petrol and pumping it out? You may have to lift the can to reduce the height to the pump. If that works then it must be a blockage in the pipe from the tank to the pump.
Remove the cap from the end of the pump and check that the points are actually throwing over, they could be just ticking without operating correctly

Re: No fuel reaching carby.
If the pump is OK after checking as Mike has mentioned, perhaps a vacuum in the fuel tank? I had that problem before on another car.

Sounds like something is flapping over the intake in the tank - or it is blocked with crud. maybe take the sender out and try to feel around inside ? And yes - sensible test is to check it pumps ok from a temporary can of fuel.
