What are and where are the markings to let you know what ratio of diff you have?

I've only seen them on the crown wheel - have heard they may be on the casing - but I've not seen them there!

I think it is generally a part number on the diff casing but they can be very difficult to find. Best way is to look on the crown wheel or count the turns of the propshaft vs a road wheel.....

You will find the numbers stamped on the diff casing. If you clean it off
