Marina engine

Post by Chris Edgar »

Friday we collect the new addition to the family...Convertible with Marina 1275 engine .
I am wondering what the oil capacity is for an oil change & also if it requires "classic" mineral 20-50 oil.
I think that I will carry out a full service, then I know it's done.

regards,

Chris

ASDA or Morrison 20W50 is fine - about 4 1/2" litres - ie the whole can! Change the filter - and make SURE the plate and spring are present under the cartridge - otherwise - it's doing absolutely nothing!

for me it depends if the engine has been rebuilt recently..
for my current engine I use ASDA oil as I have no idea of the age / mileage of the engine
but for the engine I rebuilt i treated it to a nice branded oil.

The Marina engine has a spin on filter (no springs or plates to worry about) .oil capacity is about the same as a standard Minor

Many thanks for the answer chaps!
Didn't know that Asda & Morrisons sold oil...the other day I bought a 4.5l can from Halfords, cost £17. Wonder what Asda etc. cost.
No doubt I will have some more questions in the fullness of time re. the marina engine (& the auto gearbox that comes with the car)
All of my existing literature & very rusty knowledge relates to original Minors.

ASDA/Morrison are ~ £6. No doubt it's 're-cycled' - so is your drinking water! And yes - silly me - screw on filter - makes quite a mess when changing it...

Chris
Hi Chris if you have an auto box matching the engine that's quite a rare conversion and sometimes we get owners trying to source one, so well done on getting a car with rare running gear.
Cheers

Hi Kevin,

I assumed that it would be rare. We have just collected driven her home this afternoon, about 75 miles, mostly M'way.

Runs really well. Then later got the hood down & went for a drive in the City. Automatic is ideal, living in Lancaster. May be small but gets very congested.

There is a lot of cosmetic tidying up to do, so that will keep me busy & costa bomb, no doubt.

The car has spent the last 6 years in France.

BTW has electric windows
