Depends entirely on the 'dealer' and on the car in question. Look at MANY cars - there are plenty for sale - before buying. Times are hard - drive a hard bargain! And -don't ignore the cars 'For Sale' on this forum!

Better still- join your local branch, there are always cars for sale at the local branch or people know of folk who have a Minor for sale etc. Local knowledge!

Agreed also there may be someone who will go along with you, a second pair of eyes is always a good thing as well as the extra knowledge of the pitfalls.

Discount for what?

My understanding is the in the normal course of events dealers aim to make about £1000 per car between purchase price and sale.

In between a lot of polishing, or a "blow over" paint job may be included or not.

Don't be taken in by smooth talk by salesmen, you are better looking out for yourself, that's what they will be doing, looking out for themselves.
