Fill up with air?

Post by sixdogsisback »

Hi all, I see in this months Minor Matters an article on the importance of having tyres correctly inflated. I find my Minor is very sensitive to tyre pressures in the way they effect handling. But does anyone know what the correct pressures are for the Bridgstone radial tyres which are commonly fitted. All the books on maintaining Minors were written when they had cross ply tyres and we cannot assume that the tyre pressures will be the same[for radials. Any comments?

Clive.

Around 28psi all round but you may want to experiment with what suits your driving style / comfort requirements. You may want to drop them to 26 for moer comfort or increase to 30 for more "direct" feeling. I wouldn't go lower than 26 though as radials rely on pressure to keep the beads sealed on the rims.

24 front and rear, seems fine, comfortable and no odd tyre wear.

At 24 psi - my car feels like it has 4 flat tyres - and wobbles about the road like a blancmange! 30 all round - but surely the wonderful article in the mag would tell you this ??

I run my Traveller at 28 all round and everything is fine, the important thing is to use an accurate tyre pressure gauge as you can find that the forecourt ones can vary by quite a few pounds which defeats the object af accurate tyre pressures.
