Front Bumper Blades & Valances

Post by MaltaMM »

I have been reading through a number of older posts on this forum where it was mentioned that the Series MMs and IIs had different front bumpers to later Minors. Can anyone please tell me exactly how to recognize which is which, or better still could anyone who owns both types of Minors possibly post a photo of each bumper blade and valance. My main interest is in how the original front bumper blade and valance of a 1952 Series MM should be as I am positive that the one fitted to my car is not the correct one. I also recall reading that the 2-door Series MM were never originally fitted with over riders, can anyone please confirm this.

Thanks,
Stuart

Hi Budgie, it might be helpful to post a link to the thread or state the title because by the time Stuart reads this there might be quite a few more posts added :D

Find a link to the topic you want to refer to, right-click on it, select "copy link" (might be called something slightly different in your browser), start your reply, then click on the "edit" menu and select "paste".

Alternatively if you want to link to the page you are currently looking at, click and drag to select the text in the address bar (on this page the address looks like "http://www.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=33485"), open the "edit" menu and select "copy", then do as above to paste it into a reply.

The later Series MMs and early Series 11s had a wider grill panel with the sidelights built into the panel unlike the later cars which had the sidelights/indicators in the front wings. The valances therefore have a different shape cutaway. The bumper blades have the overider mounting holes closer together otherwise the overiders would obscure the sidelights. Only the 4door MMs had overiders. There are photos of the assemblies on the Series MM website , Car Ident.
