I've been offered a 1980 Mini City, 1 owner, 30000 miles full tax & mot - anyone know what it is worth at all?
I'll try to get some pics but it is really a very clean car.....

Even more so than with a Minor - RUST is the BIG killer. Mechanical parts are simple/easy/cheap - even a rear subframe change is easy - but where that subby attaches at the 'heel board' - and the boot floor and boot rear mounting panel - and the rear wheel arches - especially where the dampers mount - and the sills (inside and out) - and inside the 'companion boxes' beside the rear seat (pull out the cardboard liner and inspect with bright light) - and the bulkhead under the screen at each side - and the scuttle panel itself - and the A panels, especially where the doors attach - and the roof guttering (look under any plastic trim) - and and and - it's all about RUST. Could be worth anything from £50 to £2000 - insist on a NEW MOT!! But they are great cars - don't let me put you off! See you on theminiforum Rich!

MOT has just been done so I "assume" all is well from a rust point of view but I will check it out as you say above - Its your typical i little old lady owner car so I'd better check for kerb damage too
If we assume no rust - no major expense required etc would that mean it's worth around £2k ???

No no - that would be for a 'mint' car- possibly rebuilt into a new heritage shell! For a nice car with new Mot - certainly less than £1000 - probably nearer £600. But - pictures would help ! You don't say if 998 or 1275 - alloy wheels ?? Disc brakes ?? Lift all carpets and feel for damp - although with this recent dry weather seems a bit unlikely. And 'squeeze' the sills with your hands to feel if going crumbly..........

I think it's a 998 - I've not had time to go and have a look yet but I will report back when I do....

im buying an '84 mayfair Saturday paying £600 for it with tax and mot...been fitted with a 1275 engine, cooper alloys if thats any help

I bought my wifes old Mini 35 back after she sold it 13 years ago and had to pay a small fortune for it.. it is in excellent condition though. Great fun to drive too!
