can spray paint be used on a engine?

hi there someone has told me that primer and then the colour you want is fine and i just wondered if it was ok to do this.

Yes - it's sold in spray cans - but don't bother with primer etc. Just get the surface truly oil/grease free (use carb cleaner spray and toothbrush) and then a few light coats.
