Brakes sticking on
Hi, after a lay up I rebuilt the master cylinder and freed up brakes and all seemed ok but when I apply the brakes the wheel cylinder pistons go out and then won't return. I made the mistake of taking the master cyclinder apart and then only replacing seals after a long period. Could I have done some thing that is causing the system to remain pressurised. OH and when I press the pedal with the top off the master cylinder I get a large spurt of OIl up into the cabin . Is that normal? thanks. Chris

Spurt is normal - as is sticking wheel cylinders after a lay-up! You really will need to free off each cylinder to make sure it is free-moving. May be an idea to fit new seals to them too - although not always necessary. Only then - when you are sure they are all free moving - should you consider faulty master. One possibility of course is that the actuating push rod is not adjusted correctly and so is not allowing the master cylinder to return fully - there needs to be a little free play at the pedal.
