Reduce gear lever throw

They have moved the pivot point up the lever to reduce the throw and increase the selector movement. The trade off would be a heavier lever movement.
On a similar subject can you still get a fly off handbrake conversion?

This is all the range in Mini world - there is no surer way to finish off your syncromesh! If you really want to change gear more quickly - just move your arm more quickly (and ignore the horrible crunching noises from the gearbox) - Simples!! The whole idea of syncromesh is to slow down the gearchange - so the dog teeth that actually do the engaging are at 'syncronised' speed with each other!
I had a fly-off handbrake on my Rally car - it was great. It was a very simple to fit kit at the time - gave the MOT lads no end of problems though........until I explained how it works. Dunno if still available - but let me know if you find one - I would indeed like to have it again!

My interest isn't especially in fast changes, more in reducing the gear lever travel.
Reading the instructions that go with that link it sounds like there is another part that sits in where the anti rattle bits normally go so I guess the lever is standard on the tricky to make end.
I wonder if the big bit could be made out of nylon rather than ally.

As for fly off hand brakes, take a look at;

If your lever travel is excessive (or just plain loose) check the plastic bush under the gearlever. And - perhaps the selector forks are loose - or the 'box is just plain worn!

Just move the seat forward a bit - and cut a couple of inches out of the seat frame to lower it........

And cut a section out of the pedals to give more leg room

I'm thinking that butchering another remote control will yield the tricky to make ball joint sockets needed.

As the force required now to move the lever is negligible a bit more wont hurt.
