Boot seal query

Post by 67-2door »

My 1968 saloon boot puddles in the rear section (by the lid) when it rains. It's fitted with the large flat rubber seal that (glues?) to the lid, it also came with another seal in the boot that fits over the lip of the boot apature (to the car not the lid).
I've tried fitting them both together but it's not possible because the boot wont shut  .
Question is which type of seal is best for preventing leaks into the boot. The wide rubber on the lid or the lip seal around the hole?
Thanks.
Neil.

Check where the leak is coming from, it may not be the seal that is the problem. I have the stuck on seal which works well. The leak I had was from the badges and number plate fixings although there can be other places too. A Minor is very creative at finding places to leak through.
