What a great picture - I love the curves in the side panels to the tailgate. Pickup's are clearly the prettiest shape

I'm currently adjusting the doors and front wings trying to get them to fit, Ive got a small conical grinding attachment for my drill that'll help me lengthen the bolt holes in the pattern wing, this will aid moving the wing backward some.
what gap size should I be aiming for between the wing and the door, Ive got a good 10mm and it looks wider than anything I can see in my Minor Monthly and other sources of pictures.[frame][/frame]

yes thats a bit wide possibly around 4 mm is better so long as the door does not catch on the back of the wing
as a guide line the back of the wing should be around the edge of the cab gutter

Thanks Dennis, that means I still got a couple of mm to go, I'll have to grind the bolt holes 2mm forward to get that rearward movement, mind you, the wing ends are in line with the gutter bottom tips, so I don't have that much spare. There's no way of getting forward movement from the door hinges, so it has to be the front wings...[frame][/frame]

Plenty to do in conjunction with the bonnet, when I add the bonnet hinges that is. In between dodging the various light rain showers, I managed to get the engine out into the light.[frame][/frame]

Off came the filthy gluped up carburettor, theres three decades of farm and wildlife filth built up on this.[frame][/frame]

After an initial stripdown and clean up it could be examined.The jet bearing nuts on the outside are really corroded, but the interior surfaces of the float and suction chambers looked ok. The suction piston needed a clean to get sufficient clearance for it to float freely, But the piston rod is as clean and shiney as the day it came off the longbridge production line. Now, a carb rebuild kit, where's that Bull motif telephone number.

To fit the new jet, the old brass sleeve that fits into the bottom of the float chamber had to come out. It wouldn't come quietly. I thought at one point that I would have to scrap the float chamber body, as the brass nut corners rounded and whole thing started to break up. I ended up drilling it out and picking out the threads. Finally success as the new one fitted perfectly.[frame][/frame]

Houston we have seperation, not exactly Apollo 11, but off came the gearbox this morning.

The gearbox was in for a de gunge, bit of a handfull.[frame][/frame]

I've got to hand it to those furry little fellows, they are very imaginative about where they set up home. With the starter motor off, the gear housing had made a great little entry and exit hatch for them.[frame][/frame]

This was a, heavy on the old rags, day. But its amazing what you can achieve with a few drops of diesel.

And finally with a bit of car shampo and a garden hose. The gearbox left in the sunshine to dry off.[frame][/frame]
