MOT day worries....

I've often seen posts regarding forthcoming MOT's here and tried to imagine how worrying and stressful it must be waiting for the result of an MOT Inspection on an older car. Well since this morning I have had first hand experience of how it feels !
After much "I hope..." and "What if..." conjecture I know now that it was all unnecessary. Winston passed today with no advisories !! Relief.
The odd thing is,with all my previous Moderns I considered the MOT to be an annoying formality ,with no sense of achieving anything that was down to personal effort. With this car it's different.We have proved that even after 49 years of motoring we are still safe to drive on the roads...and we've got the paperwork to prove it A great feeling.

Well done! Yes - it is a 'worry' - in case some terrible fault will be revealed that may make the car uneconomic to repair....... the answer of course is to know your car very well - and keep it well maintained.

Having an MOT after a 6 month rebuild and 2 hours before departing for the 60th Anniversary Nat. Rally is stressful. It passed.

That's fine - if you can afford to say to them - 'just fix it'! For others it usually means a flurry of work to get it back to them within the 10 day free re-test window!

Unless you fix it before the test, so it doesn't fail in the first place.

In my case it would have been no MOT, no Nat. Rally

Well - we all 'hope' for a good pass of course, but with an old shell - you can never be sure they won't find a wee rust hole somewhere - or a brake imbalance on the rollers, where it seemed fine on the road........
