hood bag for convertible

Post by kjm »

Hi

We have just bought a new hood bag for our convertible. This is the 1st bag we have had and arent sure what way it fixes to the car. There is a bag of fittings including "lift the dot" but no instructions

Have any of you had any experience of fitting these?

Thanks

Hi the hood bag can really only go on one way but i myself don,t get it right first time all the time if that makes sense anyway the two ends that stick out at 90 degrees to the main hood bag cover face fowards with the ends of the "arms" covering the folded hood frame where it bolts onto the inside of the car each side, there should be a u shaped "cut" approx. 18" up,this locates/wraps around the rear end of the back window each side, where it lines up on the outside of the car, making sure you,ve tucked the hood in the bag by now, make a mark with a pen where the hood covers the "lift the dot" on the car itself thats where you need to place the corresponding fixing you have which means you have to pop off the "lift the dot" on the car and then fasten the one onto it to hold the bag in place do this on the other side as well obviously and job done,on saying that i don,t have any "lift the dot" fasteners on my hood bag and thought i might need them but it,s never come loose or blown off while i,m driving so i,m not going to bother to put any on but thats my choice of course hope this helps but you can,t beat pic,s sadly i,m not yet good enough on the pc to upload them,[if thats the right terminology] regards mike

Hi Mike

Sorry for not replying sooner - thanks for sending your reply. We finally got the hood bag fitted - chickened out and got the man who fitted our frame and hood to do it. £40 well spent! lol
Just hope we get the sun now for the national

Cheers
