headlining measurement

I am installing a headliner and the directions I have say to measure the distance from the front of the car to the first seam when removing the old one. My problem is I don't an old one. Can someone measure the distance from the front seam (first rail) to the edge of the metal lip above the wind shield that the wooden frame goes under? Thanks, Paul
