How do you legally re-register a saloon converted by one of the available kits into a convertible? If its quite easy then I think thats what I,ll do.

Be very careful! They may want you to put the car through a very thorough SVA Inspection/provide an 'engineer's report - which is expensive and loads of hassle. I would first get the car MOTd and taxed up for a year before doing anything about this (in case they hold on to your V5c) - and in fact - if it was me - I wouldn't bother at all! It will make no difference to you during your ownership of the vehicle - let a new owner worry about it some time in the future!!

Hi,

we have just mot'd or post production convertible in N.Ireland. Once the necessary DVLA forms were completed to let them know about change of body type and colour (we resprayed it too), it just went through ordinary MOT.

Goodluck with whatever you decide to do
