Hi,

just my tuppence-worth; I think that Humbrol 19 Gloss Bright red and 48 Gloss Mediterranean blue are close; one advantage of Humbrol enamels is that they are mixable, so you can acheive a very wide range of shades, and they dry slowly enough to not show brush marks.

I am not too sure about water-based acrylics as I've had limited success using them for models, but then I am 'old school'

Regards

Dave

Believe it or not I've used nail varnish on the bonnet top badge (redish) as it achieves the slightly marbled effect I've also used humbrol paint and it's lasted 6 years and counting. :D

Here is what I used, the Red is GamesWorkshop "Blood Red" whilst the blue was GamesWorkshop "Enchanted Blue"
Humbrol equivalent is roughly 220 Ferrari Red and a mix of 14 French BLue and 15 Midnight Blue

@ Trabant
I am also old school and was very enamel orientated, however since I got to the point where I needed to paint hundreds of figures for various wargames armies in a short time. the enamel just didnt cut it as drying time was way to long.
A change to acrylic enabled me to achieve fast results whilst also being able to get much nicer detailing but it involved a dramatic change to my painting style.
I'll take some photos of some of my figures and upload, I know I have a great looking confederate army in acrylic but not sure I have anything left in enamel.
