I bought a Morris Minor on Ebay germany. It was offered without title because the owner had lost ist. Yesterday I picked it up and today I searched for the VIN in order to identify which year it was made and to confirm it is not stolen. Unfortunately I was dumb enough not to look for the VIN on pickup... the plates beside the fusebox and beside the radiator are missing .
Is there another location where the VIN is printed on the car? All the other cars I had had their VINs printed somewhere on the body, but on this car I can't find it...
The numbers should also be stamped into the bulkhead, beneath where the plate is screwed on - around the area the accelerator cable goes through the bulkhead.

I assume as long as you have the registration number - you will just apply for the documents - and the chassis number will be on them ? Then get a new chassis plate made up - problem sorted.
The number plates are useless in Germany - every time someone else buys a car it gets a new license plate depending on where he lives. I found the number beside the throttle cable - it begins with 52 and ends with 75, the rest is drilled away, there is a hole where someone put the tube for an Oil Pressure gauge through.
Can someone describe me where the number is in relation to the master brake cylinder, or post a picture? there is a thick layer of bitumen on my floor, I don't want to scrape that all off.
I guess you have the plate with the chassis number on it mounted on your vehicle.... so you can prove it is your car because you have the V5. I do not have the plate with the chassis number nor v5 nor the "title" (german KFZ Brief). The person that has the "KFZ Brief" with the number maching the chassis number or VIN is the owner of the car.
Hm, if there is no chassis number I'll have to get another moggy and bolt all my parts to the new chassis. Cutting out the nubers on a scrapped car wouldn't be legal I think.
Finally I found a way to get it registered without the chassis number... they will give the car a new number beginning with "TP" and bill me around 200 bucks for that ... lots of money for a f**ki** number, but better than crushing my moggie...
