Stereo idea

Post by PAULJ »

Hi all, I have read many posts on the forum about stereos and where to hide/put them. Well I bought this on ebay.

Its a rearl nice bit of kit. It takes an SD card so you can put as much Barry manilow and Dolly parton as you would ever need. For all the old people (and I know theres one or two) An SD card is like a cassette only smaller . As you can see, it comes from Hong Kong and takes about two weeks to arrive. A very good bit of kit[frame]Image[/frame]

My first music in the car was a Dansette Transistor radio balanced on the dash!

I fail to understand how any of you can hear wireless etc in a MInor ! Or do you park up and have a nice cup of tea - while listening to Classic FM ??

I glued a magnet to the back of my mp3 player, so that I can stick it in the car when I want and easily remove it when I want to recharge/reload it :D

I had assumed that the youngsters these days were audio 'challenged' - which is why they turn the music up so loudly? Despite my own great age - my hearing is perfect - except seemingly when my dear wife is speaking to me........

Bought the basic model without card reader. Brilliant bit of kit until you start the engine when it promply crashes due to the interference from the unsupressed caps on the plugs as it has original ignition. Shame really as it was pretty good performance without the engine and yes I tried an LC network with choke in line and 2 small caps each side to ground on the power line but I fear its picking it up from somewhere else as its not too bad if you hold it in your hand but put it anywhere near the dash and it crashes and just displays a channel number with no sound until cycle from off to on again. Sound wise there is a a very faint crackling when running but not bad at all, till it crashes!!!!!!

Arrgh better stick it back on ebay

nigelr2000 did you connect an aerial?
The main difference (in radio terms) is that on a bike the aerial can "see" plenty of signal while in the car it's in a Faraday cage which is very good a blocking the signal.

It's small enough, could you mount it in the drivers door?

Its not a lack of signal problem as it is definatly crashing, refuses to search or respond to any key presses bar the power button. In fact the small aerial wire just laid on the front of the dash gives pretty good performance without the engine running. I Will look into it further when I get the time & report back as I have to finish changing a wheel bearing on my Series II and do a good look round before her MOT runs out.

oops, sorry your having problems. Mine works fine. I connected the aerial to a long length of wire and ran it the length of the car. I bought it for my motorcycle but it just wasnt loud enough so put it in the mogy. You may just have a duff one.
