Laptop WinXP Problems

Post by PSL184 »

Laptop wouldn't boot due to a "missing or corrupt system config file".
Managed to get it groaning back to life by using the setup disc and running an automated repair - but - I've lost all emails, contacts and "My Documents" is empty.
Not too bothered about my documents as I run backups and have most of them but not my emails.
Is there a file somewhere that stores all the email data? I run Outlook Express 6 if that makes any difference....?
Thanks

Try running a file search for a file named "Inbox.dbx" and then have a look in the folder that contains it for any other dbx files.

I've just tried it. You need to include hidden files. Mine is in:

C:\Documents and Settings\MYNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{LOT-OF-CODE-NUMBERS}\Microsoft\Outlook Express
