An extra axle shaft!!!
I've owned the MM for 27 years and only yesterday found an axle shaft in the back of the boot! I've ordered bearings and a seal for the shaft. One never knows when a spare axle shaft may be needed?

Jings! Has there been a mysterious/annoying rattling noise for the last 27 years ?? Have a look under the rear seat - you never know what may be there!!

It took me 3 years to discover the crow bar that the previous owner had left in my boot.

Like everything else on the car, the axle was well protected. It was wrapped in old rags and tucked in nicely.bmcecosse wrote:Jings! Has there been a mysterious/annoying rattling noise for the last 27 years ?? Have a look under the rear seat - you never know what may be there!!
I found the large plug for the floor pan under the rear seat. I had spent months searching all sources for a new one, then decided to remove the seat one day. Duh! I assumed it had fallen onto the road.
