Probably from an old engine - not sure if anyone sells these, although maybe some of the Mini places - but you would need to make sure you got the right bolt. The later A series bolts are very different. You also need to be sure the con rod thread is ok - if the bolt is damaged, is the con rod ok ??

Re: Big end cap bolts
Might be worth asking in the 'wanted' section. Someone might have one

Re: Big end cap bolts
Con rod is ok I am just clumsy and dropped something on the bolt and clonked the thread !
Thanks
Thanks

As BMC points out be careful with the big end bolt you use as a replacement. One of the engines I just rebuilt had a 'mix and match' set of bolts which must have done wonders for the engine balance
Re: Big end cap bolts
Thanks for that ! They are all 3/8" x 24 UNF on the ones I have and I will put a mic on the location diameters for fun ! I see one of the spares companies down south sells them at about a fiver apiece so might as well get a pair of new ones for that con rodbilllobban wrote:As BMC points out be careful with the big end bolt you use as a replacement. A fiver each ??? Surely someone has some old ones kicking about ? I'm afraid I only have 1275 type - or you could certainly have one.
