Greetings all,
I'm marooned up in the North East at Newcastle from Tuesday the 17th of May till Friday the 29th - any idea of anything around there that's Morrisy (or anthing else engineery) to see in those dates? Gotta go there 'cos my daughter's given birth to a girl and you know how it is - with a grandaughter, daughter and wife all cooing over each other I'm going to surplus to requirements. I'll be letting the older grandughter (she's only 5 but a bright, sunny adventrous child) drag me around the shops visiting cafes and eat lots of buns, and we'll probably explore Byker Wall and visit the Turbinia again (the boat not the pub), perhaps do a raid on Hadrian's Wall, a circuit around the Metro and over the ferry, but there must be more. Something Morrisy, something steam, something solid and engineery. Its time she learnt. Any ideas?
Regards, MikeN.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.

You'll have just missed the NE Branch first outing. You could give Cragside a look.

There is the Stephenson Railway Museum.

Think they have a short section of rail too (at least they did when I was last there - for a rally as it happens)

Thanks for the ideas folks. That should keep me going for the fortnight. But if there's anything esp Morrisy let me know. Regards, MikeN.
