problem wheels!

i have been offered some multifit 4 stud wheels,would there be a chance they will fit my 68? also anybody have any knowledge of banding wheels?

By 'multifit' do you mean the holes are more like slots to allow for different PCD's or do you meen they have more than four holes, differently spaced? Do you have a picture?
For the banding are they steel wheels or alloys? Steel wheels are easily banded if done correctly. I would suggest you look here http://www.bandedsteels.com/ as this is a grey area as to the legality of the banding. It has been disussed on many a forum page so worth a bit of research first.
I would personally say steer clear of 'multifit' wheels or 'wobble bolts' as these will cause no end of issues late on. Stick to a correctly fitting wheel with the right PCD (101.6 for late Minor). There is a good choice available if you know where to look and depending what your budget is. Hope this helps a bit.

Only use the correct 4" PCD wheels, and NO - you can't 'make' 100mm PCD wheels fit. Forget ' multifit' wheels!

It all depends if they are 'Multifit' or 'Unilug'
Multifit have more than 1 set of hole, and they'll only fit if one of these sets is 4" (101.6mm) PCD. 100mm is NOT suitable> I have heard of someone being killed when a 100mm PCD wheel fitted to an Imp (4"PCD) decided to part company with the car at speed.
Unilug shave elongated holes (like a slot), and these are fine providing you use the correct nuts with them (Try Mister Tee). Unilugs are more commonly found on US wheels.

I'm guessing they can only be used - where the wheel will be located by the central hole on a matching spigot on the hubs. ie NOT on a Minor!

The slotted holes are at 90 degrees to each other, so the wheel is centred by 2 out of the 4 studs in each plane.
I've run them on a Minor with no problem. I must stress, however, that you MUST use nuts/washers designed for Unilug wheels.

Welllll - I see what you mean - but there must be clearance in the slots. I'm not at all convinced this is a 'good idea'!

The sleeve nuts will take up the slack. They've been using this concept since the 1970's in the States, and knowing the situation over there with lawyers/ legal suits etc., they'd have been banned if there was a problems, especially seeing how much BHP they tend to put through the wheels & tyres.
