Stripped out to a bare shell or still fully assembled with frame, glass, hinges, locks, handles, mechs etc....?

A fully assembled door weighs a tonne! I can only recommend the seller queue at their local post office and get a price. It wouldn't just be governed by the weight, but also the size. Second class basic postage by the post office is actually quite cheap, I was quoted £10 once for a wing and it cost £9.50 to send a swivel pin and trunnions to Norfolk from the West Midlands.

My bathroom scales say about 21Kg. ;) (that doesn't include hinges and captive nut plates BTW - they are probably another 1-2Kg by themselves)Dean wrote:A fully assembled door weighs a tonne!
But you can only use second class if your package doesn't weigh more than 1Kg. The cheap(ish) Royal Mail option for parcels up to 20Kg is called Standard Parcels. For a complete assembled door you may have to use a courier service instead.Second class basic postage by the post office is actually quite cheap

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.

Really..... trying to get mine to fit I would easily put a zero on the end of 21!alex_holden wrote:

Re: weight of doors
Use www.interparcel.co.uk for delivery as they will collect and deliver these for much less than Royal Mail.
