Re: 1300 ital
Indeed you did - and very effective too. Presumably a kind of desperate 'weight loss' effort to improve performance!
For others reading this - it's all in good spirit! But just wait to next year !!

Re: 1300 ital
had a break through today with my braking system. previously had the problem that i wasn't getting fluid to the back i tried pressure bleeding which only went and worked so now i have brakes! however i found out that 1 of my callipers is seased on so had to remove it
moved onto the clutch m/s which just wouldn't bleed. im thinking that there is a pin hole somewhere in the m/s which is drawing in air.
cant find m/s for a marina atall so the closest i can find to the marina is a mgb are m/s interchangable?
cheers

Re: 1300 ital
Well yes - it's one I have put up before now, although I will admit to 'borrowing' it from the Mini forum!
4 is fuel IN, 5 is float chamber vent/overflow pipe, 6 is the suction connection for dragging the oil fumes out of the crankcase, and 7 is the idle mixture adjustment.

Re: 1300 ital
The 'other style' you are refering to if the HIF38. I am currently running this and found it very easy to set up as it is just a larger version of the standard morris carb.

Re: 1300 ital
The 44 refers to the size of the "hole" in the carb as does the 38.
Bigger only gets better right at the top of the rev range.

Re: 1300 ital
1) goes to the vacuum advance on the distributor
2)Accelerator
3)cold start.
If the hole in the middle of the picture at an angle is open, it's where the breather from the rocker cover can go for better reduction in crankcase pressure.

Re: 1300 ital
Only the type of carb shown in my (borrowed) picture is the 'HIF' carb = Horizontal Integral Float. The earlier carbs with the external float perform just as well - BUT - they must be mounted with the float chamber dead vertical (it is adjustable) and they are subject to fuel level variation on acceleration and cornering - in other words - the engine splutters and loses power on tight corners (and roundabouts!). So - the HIF carb is a far better proposition - it is not too fussy about the mounting angle on the manifold - and no more spluttering! It's actual running performance is not significantly better than the older style carbs - it's hard to improve on perfection! Both types of carb can of course benefit greatly from the modifications detailed by Mr Vizard in his various Mini/A series books.

Re: 1300 ital
Just a length of pipe routed down the bulkhead connected to fresh air or leave it. The risk of leaving it is that fuel "could" come out and spill over the hot manifold.....

Re: 1300 ital
hi everyone got a fairly easy question for you all this time. wiring in my alternator but cant make head or tail of the wiring diagram. think its a bit to simple for my understanding.
heres the wiring diagram. i am unsure as to were the small remote cable iv marked goes to it says its supposed to connect to the warning light on the dash but i sont no were the light goes to and cant simply connect the wires. i also read its supposed to read battery voltage but dont no were on the contact box its supposed to go. also it says disconect wires at terminals f and d whats this for?
hope the above waffle makes sense. thanks.[frame]
