Hi All,
I am having some problems with the lights on my 69' 2 door saloon. The car has a new wiring loom and i followed the wiring diagram and have other electrical items working perfectly. I have just rebuilt the car and engine etc.. and im trying to get it ready for its MOT. I also have another project im eager to start but need to finish this one first!
The problems i am having are as follows: (please bear with me)
With lights off (side lights, headlights and rears)
front indercators both side work fine
rear indercators work and flash but along with the brake lights!
When i brake the rear indercators come on including the front ones!
With lights ON (side lights, headlights and rears)
front side lights work fine along with front indercators
r/h headlight is fine on dipped and full beam
l/h headlight only works on full beam (but i think they are dual fillement and the dipped beam is broken, new bulb required)
Rear tail lights are ok
Indercators both sides flash between tail light and indercator.
when i brake i get both indercator and brake light including the front indercators
I got tried disconnecting the rear indercators totally and tried the tail lights and nothing. No power it is only whne i connect the indercators i have power?
THANKS IN ADVANCE

Re: Issues with lights!
For the headlight, try switching the bulbs over and see if the problem travels across with the bulb or stays on the same side. This lets you know if there is a bad connection or a bad bulb.
With the rear indicators & lights try playing about with the earth wire, maybe make a temporary wire from the existing earth to another earth point as it looks like one bulb is earthing through the other. If one bulb is earthing through another, the lit bulbs will be dimmer that normal when both on.

Re: Issues with lights!
It is almost certainly an earthing problem - although it does seem very 'widespread! Are the earth connectors in the loom bolted down to nice clean steel on the body shell? And check each light unit is earthed properly.
