Thought i would share my expreince!

Post by dan45 »

Basically have been on the road in my minor 1098 4 door blue for 3 months now, and all of it has been great, well apart from a few things going wrong and a few times i may have thought i was in a car with better brakes lol dont get me wrong thought am not one of these poeple who complain about the brakes I think there fine as, only have to be carfull when really giving the car some really :P The cars been pretty damn good really only things that have gone wrong have been, needed mot for that it was just 2 small spots of welding and a new trunnion bush (also wire brushed and re-blacked the chassis while at it!) The wire has fallen of the coil a few times (nothing major easy fix!) and the back leaf spring snapped when pulling onto a roundabout (was already cracked from prolly 20 years ago so was going to happen, the last thing was the cluctch linkage came undone (yet again easy fix) have to handle start it alot as i have alota acessories wich the dynamo prolly isnt up to taking :P but its been really good, so gald i got a morris an not some typical 1st car :) you get alot of people talking about it, the only one thing i hate is people coming up an saying is that your beetle!! dont *&$%()* insult me :P nah i do like beetles a mate has one and cant wait for him to get on the road and hopefully were gonna put togetha a beetle and minor sought of event as they already have beetle and mini events, would be really good as the minor and the beetle are pretty simlair in aspects, thought i would just share my expreince and she if anyone has anything to say.
thanks dan

Same here. I have owned mine as a first car (since November 2008) and I am 18. However we had to get it on the road over the first christmas which took 3 months. And Last November (2009) a knocking occured and we rebuilt the engine. Only minor problems such as coil wire since then. Good to know I am not the only unlucky one and she was due a rebuild anyway. :) Have either of you got any pictures of your cars?

Just J-j-j-jiggle it a bit.

Its nice to hear from other new young members (just turned 18) I've also had mine for about a year now, and passed my test last october. As has been said u always have teething problems, mine were a flooded dizzy cap, and a break failure also, fortunately 2nd gear and a handbrake can nearly always stop her. Hope your friends also learn to love your car, and would be nice to see u about at some of the shows.

The good thing is at least you can put these things right and have peace of mind. I think most people have problems with these old cars but at least everything on them usually can be sorted out pretty easily. As my little saying goes"at least you know where you are with your car"
I suppose it's like getting to know somebody, they all have a bit of a personality. Since getting mine last September it's needed a few things putting right but mainly cosmetic, but that's the fun in owning a minor, and when you get out on the road, you see how many people will smile when they see you, these cars just seem to affect people in a funny sort of way.

Enjoy driving your minor, I know I do.

I Think it was Matt who had this problem, was going down hill at the time or something, luckily though he was ok :)
