windscreen washer not pumping
Could someone please tell me how many one way valves are connected to the whole system for the hand pumped windscreen washer circuit. I have placed a one way valve on the end of the tube that goes into the water bottle, but still not pumping any water. On the tube that goes out from the hand pump to the washer jets there is some kind of valve, but I am not sure if it should be a one way valve, also because it allows air to flow both ways, could ne that it is not working any more, or should not be there at all. Hope someone can illuminate me thanks.

Re: windscreen washer not pumping
could be the pump then
also check the one way valves are in the right direction

Sure the jets are not clogged? Blow through the pipes. Also there is sometimes a little inlet filter in the bottle that gets all clogged up. Clean it.

Take both pipes of the jets under the dash...then try pumping, if water comes out its the jets blocked...best to remove and blow through from the top...Did mine today blocked solid with gunge

Re: windscreen washer not pumping
Isn't there another one-way valve in the pump body? If it can't be seen anywhere else anyway. If there's only one on the suction end in the bottle, when the pump is on 'draw' without a valve on the output, it would draw down from the outlet, being easier, air probably, rather than that point being closed to force suction on the flow direction valve in the line from the reservoir.. No?

Re: windscreen washer not pumping
well the window washer jets are new and therefor not blicked the on way valve in the bottle is functional, the water pump itself is not fitted with an extra one way valve, its function is quite straight forward, and on the tube on the exit piece of the pump ther is a black piece that could one of been an extra one way valve but today is simple allowing air in both directions. What I need to know is if someone else has any information regarding this extra valve and if so where i could find a replacemente for it thanks

Re: windscreen washer not pumping
The pump has suck and blow nozzels so it must have a valve inside. If you put your finger over the nozzels you should be able to feel one sucking and the other blowing. It is a non serviceable item so if it is knackered then buy a new one or fit an electric pump.
The non return valve on the tube prevents the water in the tube from draining back into the bottle. Check that it is the correct way round, you should be able to blow from the bottle end but not suck. I hope you like the taste of soapy water!!!!!!!!

Re: windscreen washer not pumping
sorry but i can assure you that I taken a opened the pump and it does not contain a valve. The pump itself does not have a in and out sense also becase the pump functions as a chamber that fills with water and then just pushes water out of the tube that brings to the jets also because it cannot take the other diretion because there is the one way valve that blocks the water from taking that diretion towards the bottle.

Re: windscreen washer not pumping
So,"it does not contain a valve"
And
"there is the one way valve "
Beats me.

Re: windscreen washer not pumping
well thats right, the pump does not contain a valve and the is a one way valve inside the water bottle, my only doubt is, is the blake piece inserted in the tube that leads to the jets a non return valve, of which mine in not functioning, thanks
Re: windscreen washer not pumping
Some jets have a non return valve in but not the standard minor ones which rely on the one way valve within the washer bottle.
The jets can be checked by blowing through and should work which ever type they are.
If you have inline non return valves feeding each jet that are not working - just throw them away and connect the pipes direct to the jets
