Carb Piston
Hope this isn't a dumb question, but if I remove the air cleaner with the engine running at idle should the carb piston be moving up and down quickly (like a piston) or holding steady?

should be steady,check that there is oil in the dashpot

If engine revs are steady, so should be the piston. Is there a spring above the piston?
