just got my first minor!

Post by digger64 »

hi all!

i have just got my first minor! she's a four door 1098 saloon, almond green 1968. Having only ever spent about a total of 30mins driving a minor (and never having a classic car) i jumped in and drove her 200 miles home on what was probably the wettest day last week! i seriously didn't like crawling on the m25 in rush hour. There were plus points however.... i'm certianly used to her now!

now i have some jobs to do..... the boot seal has gone - there was about 2 gallons of water in there when i got home! the seal under the wiper fixing has gone - both glove boxes saturated! and the bolt holes for the seats in the floor pan need blocking .... four little holes on either side let in a suprising amount of water!

so.. could anyone out there point me in the right direction for original part numbers? so that i could order bits and bobs, and so that i can have a rummage at my next auto jumble. obviously thing like lenses have part numbers on them, but for the other stuff... also some touch up paint?[frame]Image[/frame]

hello there... hope you enjoy your minor. Your boot seal can be got easyily through any minor parts dealer. The problem with wet glove boxes is usually as you say wiper or windscreen washer nozzel seals having gone, easly enough to replace with the glove box liners out!!!!

Hope you get it sorted the way you want. Enjoy driving it even in the rain. When we finally get the decent summer we are all due, you enjoy it all the more. :D

Welcome to the messageboard! :D

As already stated, Morris Minor spares traders will have all the parts you need, including touch up paint. You can order on line and won't need to know the original part numbers.

Take a look at the 'new member' thread here for details of various traders: http://www.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=27472

Welcome to the world of Minoring! Another Norfolk member - yay! I would recommend DSN Classics near Attleborough as they have pretty much everything for the Minor and are very helpful. They're not too far away from you, just a short trip down the A11. They have a website too, it's; http://www.dsnclassics.co.uk/acatalog/D ... rts_1.html

Loveley looking car, I bet you turned some heads on the M25, was on there today in mine and caught a few people waving,(probably it was my bad driving  )

Enjoy your car, and as other people have said you can order parts online from several good suppliers.
