Crimpable bullet ends?

Hello,

Could someone tell me what they use to repair the wire ends of their harness when making repairs? Also, where can I find them?

I solder my wires and then crimp them on, I have never been happy with my soldering of the bullets

I crimp my connectors on. However I could do a better job with a decent pair of crimpers! The other problem is that the insulating sleeves don't look original.

You should just solder on the 'bullets'. Rescue them from old bits of harness.

It may be easier to do with old bullets as they are already tinned.
This seems to be quite difficult on new metal (for me at least).

I bought a bag of bullets from someone on ebay - got a bagfull for a fiver! Nice turned brass ones, they solder on ok and fit the connector well.

Bullets come in different sizes. I've had trouble trying to solder a larger size onto a small cable not realising this. Flux can help as can tinning the bullet and cable first. That bullet crimper looks great. If it works as good as a decent spade crimper then the bullets will not come off, even pulling with pliers!
For the rear lights just use the hollow type bullets

as per original, no need to solder them.

Yes, I got a decent crimper, "I bit the bullet" (pun intended) and bought an expensive one like that from Frost, it works beautifully. Much better than failing the MOT because of an iffy connection!

Also, my soldering has improved 100% since getting a decent hot, gas powered soldering iron, these work off cigarette lighter fuel.
